ROME (ITALPRESS) – “I thank the Prime Minister and the Minister of Economy for making the increase in resources for publishing compatible with public finance balances. It was an important effort that we put forth in full synergy, including with Forza Italia initiatives, in defense of the national information system. A choice that at this historical moment assumes strategic relevance in relation to aggressive international competition and the digital flow of misinformation and disinformation.” This was stated in a note by the undersecretary to the Presidency of the Council with responsibility for information and publishing, Alberto Barachini, in the aftermath of the House’s go-ahead to the Budget law which, to protect the world of information, allocated additional resources of 50 million euros and excluded publishers and SMEs from the web tax.”Now it will be my task,” Barachini continued, “to make sure that the Single Fund for pluralism and digital innovation of information and publishing, can respond to the need for investment in technology, which is all the more necessary at this time of the fight against fake news, deep fakes and the hard fight against all forms of piracy and copyright infringement favored by IT innovation.”Over the past two years, the trajectory of specific interest in protecting the sector,” the executive highlights, “has been marked by the reform of the agencies that has been awaited for years; by the newly allocated resources for early retirements; by the creation of the Single Fund, guaranteeing greater flexibility in response to contingencies by the stop to the decalage of the Crimi Law, which would have led to the zeroing of direct contributions; by the defense of employment levels and the professionalism of journalists through the Report of the AI Commission for Information, which became part of the Italian Ddl on artificial intelligence; and by the utmost attention to crisis situations.”
