Maneuver, Fontana “Opposition is not conducive to dialogue.”

ROME (ITALPRESS) – “The exasperated climate of opposition is obviously not conducive to dialogue, to agreeing on points of contact, to the serenity of a democratic debate geared toward finding the best solutions to solve problems.” This was said by House Speaker Lorenzo Fontana, interviewed by Il Giornale, regarding the call for a “social revolt” by CGIL Secretary Landini ahead of the Nov. 29 general strike against the maneuver. And then, regarding a hypothetical political offensive by the judiciary on the case of migrant transfers to Albania after the judges’ stop, he added, “I think it is necessary to lower the level of tension to protect the separation of powers, allowing politics and the judiciary to operate, respecting their autonomy and also taking responsibility.” Finally, on the recent U.S. elections that saw Donald Trump triumph, he commented, “With the United States, the relationship is close, historically solid and of great cooperation, regardless of the political color of the president. Having said that, I think Americans, with their vote for Donald Trump have overwhelmingly come out in favor of a new vision with respect to both domestic and foreign affairs. I would say that U.S. citizens have rewarded a program close to the demands of the working class, with very definite positions on immigration,” he concluded.
