Marc Marquez slips and Bagnaia wins the GP of the Americas

AUSTIN (UNITED STATES) (ITALPRESS) – A rediscovered Francesco Bagnaia, riding the factory Ducati, won the “long race” of the Grand Prix of the Americas, staged at the Austin circuit. The rider from Chivasso took advantage of the resounding fall of his boxmate, Marc Marquez, and recovered precious points in the championship. Bagnaia had never won in his career on the American track. The podium was completed by Alex Marquez (Ducati Gresini), in second place, and Fabio Di Giannantonio (Ducati Pertamina), in third. Franco Morbidelli (Ducati Pertamina) and Jack Miller (Prima Pramac Yamaha) are fourth and fifth, respectively. After a great comeback Marco Bezzecchi (Aprilia) closes in sixth place. Thus ends the unbeaten streak of Marc Marquez, who fell during the ninth lap at turn four while leading the race. The Spaniard immediately returned to the saddle, albeit without a platform, then finally retiring a few laps later. Also out were Pedro Acosta, Joan Mir, Johann Zarco and Fermin Aldeguer. In order, completing the top ten were Enea Bastianini, Luca Marini, Ai Ogura and Fabio Quartararo.The start was delayed by a few minutes, after eleven riders returned to the pits before the warm up lap to change bikes. Until a few moments before the start, in fact, the track conditions remained uncertain: despite the rain that had fallen in the previous hours, the straight and most of the circuit had dried.In the World Championship standings now Alex Marquez is at the top, followed by his brother Marc and Pecco Bagnaia.- photo Ipa Agency -(ITALPRESS).
