ROMA (ITALPRESS) – In 2024 173.272 marriages were celebrated in Italy, 5.9% less than 2023. Religious marriages have a decline consistent with the previous year (-11.4%), accentuating a tendency to the decline in place for a long time.
29,309 weddings were celebrated with at least one foreign spouse (16.9% of total marriages), with a decrease of 1.4% compared to 2023. In the first nine months of 2025 the provisional data indicate a new decrease in marriages (- 5.9%) compared to the same period of 2024. This is what emerges from the Istat survey on weddings, civil unions, separations and divorces for 2024.
