ROMA (ITALPRESS) – The Ministry of Environment and Energy Security launches a new initiative in support of the Italian territories and cities engaged in the European Mission “100 smart cities and zero climate impact by 2030”, with the aim to accompany the implementation of the “Climate City Contract” and accelerate the path towards urban climate neutrality.
The Programme is aimed at the nine Italian cities selected by the European Union – Bergamo, Bologna, Florence, Milan, Padua, Parma, Prato, Roma Capitale and Turin – who have obtained the recognition of the Mission City Label, is that attests the alignment of their strategic plans to the objectives of climate neutrality at 2030. “With this Programme – says the Minister of Environment and Energy Security, Gilberto Pichetto – we strengthen support for Italian cities engaged in the European Mission for Climate Neutrality. Cities are a fundamental engine of ecological transition.”.
“Accompaniing the implementation of Climate City Contract means translating the objectives to 2030 into concrete actions on sustainable mobility, energy efficiency and renewables, in close coordination with European policies,” concludes Pichetto. With this programme, the ministry confirms its commitment to strengthening coordination between national policies and European initiatives, accompanying the territories in the path towards decarbonization and sustainable development, in line with the strategic priorities of the ministerial action for the three-year period 2025-2027.
