MODENA (ITALPRESS) – In 2026 Maserati ran the first hundred years of his iconic logo, the Trident, and his first sports victory obtained in 1926 at Targa Florio. It was, in fact, on April 25, 1926, when Alfieri Maserati aboard the legendary Type 26, conquered the first place of class and the eighth absolute, marking the beginning of an agonistic tradition that contributed to defining the identity of the Brand itself. A symbol that has seen its debut in that competition and that, therefore, tells the origins, ambition and inheritance of a brand born to compete and win on the road and on the track. In a definition: “100 YEARS OF THE TRIDENT”?. With the word RIDE in bold: a reference to the verb that in English evokes that refined and sporty guide that always distinguishes every Maserati. To remember this anniversary, every Maserati event in the world – from sporting events to competitions of elegance, from product presentations to cultural initiatives – in 2026 will transform this special event into a manifesto of identity and pride shared by all trident enthusiasts globally. To express it at best will be a new communication campaign that traces 100 years of history and emotion through the most iconic cars of the Brand. As evidence of the cultural relevance achieved by the symbol of Maserati, moreover, the Ministry of Enterprises and Made in Italy has recently dedicated to the one hundred years of the Trident an ordinary stamp: an institutional recognition that consecrates its value as an expression of Italian excellence in more than 70 markets in the world. ‘The Trident embodies the most authentic soul of Maserati – says Santo Ficili, COO Maserati –. Born on track in 1926, he brought with him the legacy of a company that learned how to build cars after tenths of a second. An invaluable heritage – made of sports victories, iconic models and technical primates – that Maserati women and men keep and renew every day in Modena and around the world. In 2026 we also celebrate 112 years since the foundation, confirming ourselves as the longest brand in the Motor Valley and one of the ambassadors of Made in Italy internationally. There are not many automotive brands that can boast so many anniversaries of such importance. For this reason, we look to the future with the same solidity and strength with which we forged the past. The Maserati logo was officially born in 1926, but it takes shape already in 1925, when Mario Maserati, the only artist of the family and not directly involved in the automotive activity, realizes the first design of the trident, now preserved in the Maserati archives of Modena. The inspiration comes from the Fountain of Neptune in Bologna, located a few hundred meters from the first Maserati workshop, a symbol deeply rooted in the city identity. The first official appearance of the Trident dates back to that year, on Type 26: the car with which Alfieri Maserati entered Targa Florio, conquering the first place in class 1500 cc. It was the first of a long series of successes, including two consecutive editions of the 500 Miglia of Indianapolis (1939 and 1940), four consecutive victories at Targa Florio (1937, 1938, 1939 and 1940), nine victories in F1 and the World Championship of F1 in 1957 with Juan Manuel Fangio. In more recent years Maserati returned to triumph with the MC12, a car that from 2005 to 2010 won six FIA GT international championships, the maximum expression of GT racing derived from production. And since 2023 the Maserati GT2 has brought the Trident House to compete and win in the covered wheeled championships; today it is eligible to participate in more than 20 championships worldwide. In short, the Trident was born on the track, filled with dust of displaced roads and sports ambition, and for decades it meansone thing: competition. The link with motorsport has never stopped completely, not even in the years when Maserati focused on road production. The first emblem, applied on Type 26, was a rectangular badge with a dark trident on a clear background, a graphical solution that however had short life. Already in the early 1930s, in fact, the brand evolves towards the oval form that will become iconic, adopting the red and blue colors of the city of Bologna and defining an identity destined to last over time, with more than forty years of substantial stability both on road cars and on racing cars. In 1980 a gold-bottom variant was introduced, used throughout the production of the period, while in 1997 the logo was redesigned in proportions and style, marking a phase of relaunching the Marchio. The most recent evolution is part of the so-called New Era Maserati, inaugurated by MC20 in 2020, which leads to the debut a substantial restyling of the logo, able to make the Trident more contemporary and elegant, preserving its historical identity. The intervention involved in particular the proportions and design of the three tips, with rounded side arrows to ensure greater visual continuity, a different relationship with the blue shield and a more dynamic overall composition. The oval has been lightened both in the structure and in the color treatment, with the elimination of red in favor of a palette reduced to white and a deep blue, the so-called Maserati Blue, characterized by a lacquered effect. Maserati launches a new campaign dedicated to the 100 years of the Tridente logo, which becomes a moment of sharing the founding values between Brand and its customers. On the air from today on the official channels Maserati, the video puts in dialogue past and present through a cast of cars chosen with precise narrative care: the Type 26, the Ghibli and the MC12 represent the historical heritage of the Marchio, while the GranTurismo Trofeo, the Grecale Trofeo and MCXtrema embody its continuity with the contemporary racing world, red thread that indissolubly binds the Trident to the competitions. The three historical models Maserati start from the pits of Targa Florio. During their journey, they enter a new dimension, where Heritage meets the Future. From the dust of the past the three contemporary Maserati emerge, which advance on a majestic desert of salt. While the three cars run together, they leave behind their decisive and powerful tracks that become, when framed from above, a common path capable of drawing a gigantic Trident. The video was created with a mix of 3D animation and artificial intelligence for a particular aesthetic treatment, accompanied by a specially composed soundtrack, and enriched in closing by the line “A Century of Stories, Signed with One Symbol”. To make the film even more exciting is the narrative voice: thanks to the AI, in fact, was recreated that of Maria Teresa De Filippis (1926-2016), the first woman to have qualified and to run a Formula 1 Grand Prix – that of Belgium in 1958, at the wheel of a Maserati 250F. The campaign is complemented by a series of visuals dedicated to the entire current range shared by the word “100 YEARS OF THE TRIDENT”, with the word RIDE in bold: a reference to the English verb “ride”, to evoke that refined and sporty guide that always distinguishes every Maserati. In addition, to anticipate the new campaign, from 16 to 26 April, fans from all over the world have been able to live a real film journey through the last 100 years of Maserati thanks to an immersive and multisensory experience, which has seen the realization of 10 distinct videos, each dedicated to a decade of the history of Brand, an ode to the evolution of the Trident and the Unparalleled Heritage of Maserati, capace to give life to the key moments of Brand. To tell each episode, the voices of the most important and influential figures in the history of Maserati, starting with Mario Maserati. Moreover, on 9 April last, in the Sala degli Arazzi of Palazzo Piacentini in Rome – seat of the Ministry of Enterprises and of Made in Italy – the ceremony of presentation and philatelic annulment of the stamp dedicated to the centenary of the Trident, belonging to the thematic series ‘the Excellences of the productive system and economicized. The event underlined the cultural value of philosophilia as an instrument of narration of Italian excellence: an object of daily use capable of preserving and spreading a unique symbolic heritage. The graphic project, curated by the Centro Stile Maserati and perfected by the Istituto Poligrafico e Zecca dello Stato, puts in dialogue the contemporary Trident with an evocative plot of the first specimens of 1926, in a game of references that gives continuity and consistency to a evolution long a century. The roots sink into the fountain of Neptune of Bologna, reinterpreted through a contemporary, essential and elegant aesthetic language. The tricolor strip and the ‘CENTENARIO’ legend complete a composition that strengthens the link with the Italian identity. Printed and distributed by Poste Italiane for the current use and the collection circuit, the stamp is flanked by a dedicated philatelic folder, an additional tool for cultural and industrial valorization of the excellence of the country on a global scale.
