MILAN (ITALPRESS) – Ten people were killed and at least five wounded in a shooting that occurred Tuesday afternoon at a school in Örebro, about 200 kilometers (124 miles) west of Stockholm.
The shooter reportedly then took his own life. This was reported by Swedish police, who deny that the shooting was related to terrorism.
“Such violence and terror have no place in our societies, least of all in schools. In this dark hour, we stand with the Swedish people. Our thoughts are with the victims and we wish them strength and a speedy recovery,” Ursula von der Leyen, president of the European Commission, wrote on X.
“I express my sympathy to the Swedish government and people for the terrible attack in the city of Örebro,” says Council President Giorgia Meloni. “My thoughts are with the victims, their families and all the injured people involved. We cannot accept that violence and barbarism find a place in our societies.”
