Mattarella at the Teatro Massimo in Palermo for the Day of Honour for membership in the sighting and youth / Video

PALERMO (ITALPRESS) – To welcome the young future lawyers and to convey to them the fundamental principles of the profession, as well as the pride of being part of the forensic world: this is the purpose of the Day of the Honour of belonging to the approach and reception of young people, reached the ninth edition and celebrated in a solemn ceremony at the Teatro Massimo. The event was attended by the President of the Republic Sergio Mattarella, at the second Sicilian stage of the day after the surprise visit to Niscemi in the morning: with him the president of the Renato Schifani Region, the mayor of Palermo Roberto Lagalla, the Prefect Massimo Mariani, the vice president of the Ars Luisa Lantieri and the president of the Order of Lawyers of Palermo Dario Greco.

Schifani is among the figures who received a medal for their forensic career. During the ceremony, in fact, the awards of the lawyers who have exercised the profession for 65, 60 and 50 years, in three different moments: in the first case to receive the recognition were in two (Isabella Casales Mangano and Nicola Piazza), in the second in three (Salvatore Bonaccorso, Guido Corso and Alberto Polizzi), in the third in eleven (in addition to Schifani there are Andrea Avola, Antonio Bargione, Massimo Cocilovo.

“I’m excited to receive this recognition – Schifani emphasizes. This house has belonged to me since I was 23 years old and left a fixed place to throw me into the sighting. I have always believed in individual freedom and lived a great adventure as a lawyer: on the last day as President of the Senate the last approved law was that of forensic reform, I always felt it essential to keep order in our home. I miss the forensic career, because it’s a piece of my life and stayed inside me. I made a great sacrifice to leave the job in the bank, but I decided to launch myself and I was a happy man: my efforts, my sufferings and my challenges made me grow more and more. Sometimes it is also necessary to say no to the customer: one of my forces was to refuse so many administrative actions when I felt it necessary.”.

Also young people recently enabled had a moment dedicated to them with the pronunciation of the solemn commitment and the delivery of the parchment; it was also donated, as a recognition to the career, a plate to Manlio Gallo, honorary president of the Order of Lawyers of Palermo with 70 years of forensic profession.

In addressing Mattarella, Greco points out that “I address the greeting of the whole of Palermo’s Avvocatura: his words are a guide for jurists and lawmakers, we are all proud of our Republic and our profession. We renew her sense of gratitude for what she has done as a lawyer and for what she does for peace and democracy: her presence here today and the attention she has for our land, as witnessed by her presence today in Niscemi, has for all of us a particular meaning. We are proud to be part of this Republic.”.

Among the award-winning lawyers were many who remembered the forensic activity of the head of the state, addressing him a thank you for taking part in an anniversary for them so significant.

A solemn applause accompanied the release of the President of the Republic from the Teatro Massimo. The Head of State participated in the ninth Day of the Honour of belonging to the approach and reception of young people.
