ROME (ITALPRESS) – “The welfare system, the result of the principles of the Constitution and the choices made in the republican decades, is a pillar of our social model, as well as an essential feature of citizenship itself.” This was stated by President of the Republic Sergio Mattarella, in a message on the occasion of the Forum “Welfare, Italy “2024. “However,” he added, “the services, rules and balances achieved are not guaranteed in the abstract, but need to be continually adjusted and strengthened with respect to the changing demands coming from society, in order to ensure the rights their inalienable universalistic character.The commitment to research and proposal that the Think Tank “Welfare, Italy” undertakes, with the drafting of the Annual Report, is, in this respect, appreciable. “We are experiencing,” he adds, “profound transformations that affect the structures and the very sustainability of the Welfare system. We cannot allow territorial, generational and social gaps to return, as much in the health field as in other dynamics of social integration. Innovation and planning must characterize this commitment, in order to implement, over time, the constitutional guideline that places the person at the center and ensures adequate social protection under the sign of equal right, for those in need.A challenge, this one, that concerns the whole of Europe, because of the interconnection that characterizes the societies of the 27 countries of the Union.
