VENICE (ITALPRESS) – The State Police, at the conclusion of investigations coordinated by the district attorney of Venice on a transnational criminal organization, dedicated to drug trafficking, carried out a precautionary measure against 4 subjects, of Nigerian origin, seriously suspected of being organic to the criminal offence. The investigation, conducted by the policemen of the Mobile Team, has allowed to collect serious evidence against 54 suspects, considered responsible, for various reasons, of association aimed at the trafficking of drugs and drug dealing. The measures were carried out in the provinces of Venice and Padua, as well as in France.
The activities, started by monitoring the widespread network of pushers active on the square of Mestre, have allowed to reconstruct the supply and distribution chain of narcotics, revealing the operativity of a transnational criminal association, with operational summit in Holland and active also in Italy and other European countries, dedicated to the import and trade of cocaine, heroin and amphetamines, then destined to the squares of Veneto and other European countries. The investigations, supported by telephone, telematic and environmental interceptions, have documented, on the other hand, the widespread use of couriers of different nationalities, including Italian, Spanish, German and Dutch, used for the transport of drugs along the main European directors, as well as the availability of logistic bases, in the Padua, for the occultation and storage of drugs. The measure carried out constitutes the judicial epilogue, in a precautionary position, of the progressive initiatives adopted by the Prosecutor of the Republic of Venice – District Antimafia Directorate, following the investigations conducted by the Mobile Team.
In particular, the original request for a precautionary measure, proposed by the Prosecutor of the Republic in respect of part of the investigations and initially rejected by the Judge for preliminary investigations, was re-proposed, when appealed, by the district prosecutors, who challenged that refusal to see the relevance of the associative crime for the most important positions. Following the appeal, the Court of First Instance accepted the arguments formulated by the Prosecutor of the Republic, recognizing its foundation, for some of the investigations, and confirming the solidity of the evidence provided by the Mobile Team. One of them, on the other hand, proposed action by cassation, subsequently rejected on the merits.
Overall, 54 subjects of Nigerian nationality and other nationalities were investigated during the investigation; about 50 kilos of narcotics were seized, including cocaine, heroin and amphetamines; 7 subjects were arrested in scourgency of crime, between Veneto, Emilia Romagna, Aosta Valley and Trentino Alto Adige. Of the 4 recipients of the restrictive measure, some of which are considered a key element of the organization: one has been localized and taken under arrest in the province of Padua; one was located in France and taken under arrest, by the transalpine police authorities, running a European arrest warrant; one has been localized and taken under arrest at the air border of Venice, arriving from England; One is still wanted.
