Meloni “Stability of Italy capital to be enhanced”

ROME (ITALPRESS) – “Our extraordinary condition of stability – extraordinary not only compared to the past of our Republic, but also compared to the political turmoil that several major European nations are facing – is an important capital that Italy can and must know how to put to good use, which it is in our national interest to be able to highlight on every occasion.” Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni said this during communications ahead of the Dec. 19-20 European Council meeting in the Chamber of Deputies. “Consolidating the idea of a stable Italy allows us to strengthen our cooperation with partners, attract more foreign investment and work to bring home our too many brain drain to whom we must try together to give a new rewarding dream in the homeland,” she added. “I believe that we can recognize how the role assigned to Italy in the new Commission is adequate to the weight of our nation in Europe, it is an achievement that confirms the centrality of Italy in the new European context and, from my point of view, also the ability of our government to make the case for Italy, but it is also a personal recognition for Raffaele Fitto and for the excellent results he has achieved in these two years as minister of the Italian Republic,” the premier stressed.
In this sense, “the executive vice-presidency assigned to the Italian commissioner is not simply an honorary title for us, but rather a concrete tool that will allow the Italian commissioner to supervise and coordinate EU policies in strategic sectors such as agriculture, fisheries, transport, tourism, and the economy of the sea, sectors in which an Italian sensibility can certainly contribute to bringing the debate back to a pragmatic approach, overcoming that ideological and dogmatic drift that Brussels has shown in too many areas in recent years,” Meloni concluded.

“If you consider the protocol with Albania so useless and ridiculous,” he said, “why are you putting all this energy into blocking this project? Perhaps because you know that the project could be extraordinarily effective, I think so,” the Prime Minister later said during the House’s replies. “I am convinced that the protocol with Albania should go ahead, there is no other Italian and European initiative on combating traffickers that is so worrying for traffickers,” he added.
