Meloni “We confirm support for Ukraine as long as necessary”

ROME (ITALPRESS) – “Seeing Zelensky is now a custom, it is not about form but it is a necessary continuity for us that only confirms our support for Ukraine, a nation that has been brutally, unjustifiably attacked.” Thus Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni at the end of her meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
“Italy has stood by Ukraine from the first moment of the conflict and we are ready to continue to do so as long as necessary. We do so because we are convinced that this is the right side of history, but it is also in our interest to defend the rules of international coexistence that guarantee a peaceful future for all, if we derogate from these rules we will live in a world of chaos that is unable to defend the most fragile. Ukraine is not alone, we will stand by as long as it takes,” he added. “The Ukrainian people continue to resist heroically because they want to choose their future, and the international community has a duty to help them. The goal of our support is to put Ukraine in the best possible conditions to build a peace table that cannot mean a surrender that so many, too many cowardly suggest. This also presupposes military support as well as the energy sector,” she explained.
Meloni finally announced that “the Ukraine recovery conference will be held in Rome on July 10 and 11, 2025. This is an event we care a lot about and have been working on for a long time.”
