Miglietta new Federpesistica president “Great responsibility”

ROME (ITALPRESS) – Improve what has been done so far by adopting a managerial approach in the management of the Italian Weightlifting Federation. This is the intent of Alberto Miglietta, who was elected president of Fipe during the assembly held at the Hilton Rome Airport in Fiumicino. An almost unanimous approval for Miglietta, who as the only candidate obtained 99.68 percent of the votes, thus succeeding Antonio Urso, who had been in office since 2005. “A message of change that the movement has understood,” Miglietta stressed. “I am not from the world of weightlifting, but from other movements. I also came from another Olympic federation, I took athletes to the Olympics. I think the professional path I had in my life is particularly important at this time. I expected success but not with this size, I realize that I have a great Federation and a great responsibility to represent a mature movement that has understood change,” reiterated the newly appointed president of the Federpesistica. A change that also starts with elements of continuity, following the 20 years of Urso’s presidency. “We have crazy roots that we want to maintain. The territory is the heart of the federation. In 20 years a federation has been built from nothing to win Olympic medals. On training we have an incredible open field to develop. We want to bring an average of 5,000 boys a year into the federation.” Finally, in his opening address to the assembly, Miglietta had also addressed a message to the world of politics: “You have to respect us for the value we have. If we are worth so much, we want to be considered so much, both by Italian politics and the Italian sports world,” stressing the intention to take care of “not only internal relations but also external ones.”- photo Spf/Italpress -(ITALPRESS)
