Milan beats Juve in comeback, Super Cup final with Inter Milan

RIAD (SAUDI ARABIA) (ITALPRESS) – It will be Milan taking on Inter Milan on Monday in the Super Cup final. New coach Sergio Conceicao’s team overcame Juventus 2-1 in a comeback, thanks to a penalty by Pulisic and an own goal by Gatti that came in the second half. The first shock came already during the warm-up, when Francisco Conceicao, son of the Rossoneri coach, was forced to forfeit due to a physical problem. In his place, Yildiz takes the field. The bianconeri take the lead at 21′. Mbangula cuts to the middle and verticalizes for Yildiz himself, who surprises Hernandez from behind and sneaks into the box before kicking under the crossbar with his right and beating Maignan. The opponent’s reaction was slow to come and resulted only in a conclusion from the edge by Fofana close to the recovery, with the ball going wide. On the flip of the coin, it is Yildiz again to break away and go for a shot from the limit with his left foot, but Maignan deflects in a dive. It goes to rest at 1-0. The script does not change at the start of the second half, when Yildiz tries again after a few seconds with a grazing right-footer from outside the box that goes just wide to the right of the post. The Turk is unleashed and at 2′ puts in an inviting ball from the right side on which Vlahovic arrives, but impinges badly with his left and kicks out. At 10′, Hernandez misses a glaring chance for the equalizer when he shoots a right-footed shot to the stars just a few steps from the goal after a scramble in the box that arose following a corner. The game changed on 25′, when Locatelli intervened late on Pulisic in the box causing a penalty kick. From the penalty spot came the American himself, who kicked centrally and pierced Di Gregorio, despite a touch by the goalkeeper, thus signing the 1-1. Four minutes later, the comeback is completed. Morata launched newcomer Musah on the right, who put in a ball that Gatti deflected into his own goal, finding Di Gregorio culpably too far from the posts and late in his attempt to recover his position. At 36′, Conceicao’s men restarted on the counterattack with Pulisic being unleashed in the box by Hernandez, but his attempted dig was stopped in the corner by Di Gregorio. The final assault of Motta’s lineup did not have the desired effects and the result would not change again. Milan thus celebrates access to Monday’s final against Inter.
