Milan falls again, Torino wins 2-1

TURIN (ITALPRESS) – After the big Champions disappointment, yet another misstep for AC Milan at the Stadio Olimpico, with Torino going through 2-1 in front of their home crowd. It was an own goal by Thiaw and a goal by Gineitis that sank Conceicao’s team after Reijnders’ momentary equalizer. Nothing to do for the Rossoneri, who also miss a penalty with Pulisic and slammed a great Milinkovic-Savic.The Grenadians took the lead after not even five minutes. Maignan came out of his area to deflect a long throw from his opponents, but kicked the ball at Thiaw, with the ball rolling backwards into the back of the net for an own goal worthy of “Never Say Goal.” The visitors responded in 21′, when Joao Felix verticalized well for Gimenez, who went for a right-footed shot, but Milinkovic-Savic barred his way by pure instinct. The Rossoneri continued to attack and won a penalty kick on 31′, when Pedersen committed a clumsy hand foul in the box after an aerial clash with Leao. From the penalty spot came Pulisic, who, however, was hypnotized by Milinkovic-Savic, failing to get the first shot from 11 meters of his career. The Paolo Vanoli-led lineup revisited at 37′, when Maignan was forced to deflect a Pedersen left-footer that came in off a corner kick into the dive. Two minutes later, the French goalkeeper repeated himself on a close-range left by Vlasic. The first half ended 1-0. The first chance of the second half came at 12′ when Fofana, brought on after halftime in place of Leao, shot from distance with his right but Milinkovic-Savic made a diving save. Four minutes later, it is Joao Felix who tries a right-footed shot from the edge but the Serbian goalkeeper is still alert. Milinkovic-Savic is insurmountable and on 19′ he parries a treacherous right-footed shot by Reijnders that seemed destined for the back of the net. The home goal is bewitched and at 24′ it is Joao Felix who tries with his left but the ball hits the outside post. The Granata wall falls at 29′. Newcomer Sottil puts a ball in the middle from the left, Walukiewicz clears short and Reijnders takes advantage by slipping the ball under the far post crossbar with a powerful left-footer. The 1-1 barely lasted two minutes, however, because the Piedmontese immediately took the lead again. Sanabria quickly kicked a free kick, surprising the opponents and serving Gineitis, who with a surgical left-footed shot beat Maignan for 2-1. The 7-time European champions felt the blow and attempted a final assault that, however, did not have the desired effects. Thanks to these three points, Torino climbs to 11th place with 31, while Milan remains seventh with 41.- Photo Ipa Agency -(ITALPRESS).
