Milan rises again and wins in Lecce, comeback from 2-0 to 2-3

LECCE (ITALPRESS) – Milan returned to winning ways after three consecutive defeats, with Lecce ending 3-2: Pulisic’s double was decisive, the Rossoneri managed to come back from two goals down. Momentary eighth place at 44 points, in the next round there will be a challenge against Como. Defeat number 15 for Lecce, +3 from the relegation zone: with Genoa a victory will be needed to breathe again.

Il racconto del match

High tempo and many scoring chances, that was the storyline of the match at the Via del Mare. Milan tried to banish the week’s discontent by starting off strong right away, but Gimenez’s goal – on an assist from Theo Hernandez after Pulisic’s feed – was disallowed because the Mexican striker was in front of the ball line. Lecce, past the initial scare, immediately found the goal of the lead: at 7′ Krstovic, with a violent conclusion from the limit, beat Sportiello. The reaction of Conceicao’s team was immediate, but Gabbia’s equalizer – a scheme developed from a free kick by Theo Hernandez – was cancelled again due to an offside position. At 21′ Krstovic hit the outside post, at 40′ Gimenez was hypnotized by Falcone.

In the second half the Portuguese coach sent Rafa Leao on the field, after a few minutes Gimenez himself hit the post again. It took the hosts 14 minutes to hold up and sink in the restart, it was Krstovic again who found the 2-0 goal. Milan, despite the desperate situation, managed to shorten the distance with Gallo’s own goal on Joao Felix’s shot (23′), five minutes later Pulisic converted the 2-2 penalty awarded by Doveri after a contact in the box between the American and Baschirotto. The guests took advantage of the inertia, again the former Chelsea man, on Rafa Leao’s suggestion, scored the goal of the final 3-2 by finishing in a split at the second post. A comeback victory and one of character for the Diavolo, three important points for the standings, but also for Sergio Conceiçao’s bench.
