Monza-Cagliari 1-2, to Sardinians in comeback salvation challenge

MONZA (ITALPRESS) – A heavy victory in the salvation key for Davide Nicola’s Cagliari, which passed 2-1 at home to Monza, increasingly alone at the bottom of the standings. First Caprari’s penalty in the opening match to delude the home side, then goals from Zortea and Piccoli to overturn the result in favor of the Rossoblu, who bypass Lecce – at least momentarily – just outside the relegation zone. Race that starts off strong, with two key episodes in the first six minutes of the game: first Cagliari, on the developments of the corner beaten by Viola and on which Felici manages to deflect towards the goal, finding, however, the rebound of the post; then Monza, which at 3′ counterattacks with Ciurria’s shot rejected in the area by Makoumbou’s wrist, a touch that, after the review to the monitor by Di Bello, is worth the penalty transformed three minutes later by Caprari. Brianza’s advantage and immediately high pace, with Nicola’s eleven trying to respond to the goal conceded thanks to Viola’s inside left-footer, on which Turati is good in the dive. It’s only a matter of minutes, however, for Cagliari, which at 22′ draws the joker of the equalizer, on the transition led by Felici who unloads for the left-footed shot from the distance of Zortea, winning in the trajectory that beats Turati. An entertaining and balanced first half, as was also the start of the second half, in which Cagliari would find the overtaking goal, thanks to Piccoli’s attack to the depths, who with his right kicked hard at Turati’s post, sealing the 2-1 at the 56′ mark. Another hard blow for Monza, which seemed to finally break down seven minutes later, with D’Ambrosio kicking Mina from the ground and, after another on field review, being sent off by Di Bello. Cagliari thus more facilitated in the management of a psychologically astonished Monza – with even a post hit in the final by Lapadula -, with no more chances of counterattack and reaction, until the end of the six minutes of recovery that condemned the biancorossi to the eleventh defeat of the championship, delivering instead to the Rossoblu a success that had been missing since last November 29 against Venezia.
