Morto Tullio Rossi, luminare of osteotricia and Sicilian gynaecology

PALERMO (ITALPRESS) – Professor Tullio Rossi died at the age of 93, a reference figure of Sicilian osteotricia and gynecology. He has tied his name to the Clinic Ostetrica and Ginecologica of the University of Palermo, where he has carried out for decades clinical, scientific and educational activities. Born in Messina on 29 January 1933, he graduated in Medicine and Surgery at the University of Palermo in 1958 and graduated in Ostetricia and Gynecology with the highest grades in 1962. From the early years of training he distinguished himself by scientific rigour and clinical dedication, starting an intense research activity and attending the important Italian and European university centers of the time, including Munich and Ljubljana. Voluntary assistant since 1961, an ordinary assistant at the Clinica Ostetrica e Ginecologica of the University of Palermo, then a free professor of Clinica Ostetrica e Ginecologica, since 1983 he held the role of Primary of the Division of Pregnancy in High Risk. Among the pioneers in the early 70s of “celioscopy” contributed decisively to the development of the first laparoscopic surgery. Author of numerous scientific publications and monographs, he has carried out a vast surgical activity with thousands of obstetric and gynaecology interventions, alongside clinical activity a constant commitment in the formation of students, residents and obstetric pupils. A discreet man, with great rigour and sense of duty, Professor Rossi embodied an idea of medicine based on the competence, responsibility and respect of the patient as a person.
