ROME (ITALPRESS) – Pirelli expands its commitment in MotoGP: already sole supplier in Moto2 and Moto3, it will also be so in MotoGp and MotoE from 2027: signed a five-year contract expiring in 2031, with the Italian company taking the place of
Michelin, confirmed for the current and following seasons
as per the contract.
Pirelli will make its entry coincide with the season in which the championship will enter a new era, given the debut of the new motorcycles resulting from the technical regulations planned just from 2027. “This affirms the strategy of a single supplier for the entire paddock, to provide an ideal scale of development for the champions of tomorrow, committed to their own path to the top of the sport,” Dorna reports, confirming that in the meantime Michelin will remain the exclusive supplier of MotoGP and MotoE until the end of the current technical regulations, that is, the end of the 2026 season. “Over the next two years it will continue to provide world-class technical support, products and technology ensuring safety and performance in races that establish MotoGP as the most exciting sport in the world. In 2025 and 2026 Michelin will also be involved in MotoE. It will work within this framework on the innovation front to make its tires, which already feature a high percentage of renewable and recycled materials, even more sustainable.”
“After several months of discussions related to the extension of Michelin’s contract with MotoGP beyond the 2026 season, Dorna Sports has decided to select a single tire supplier for all classes,” the words of Piero Taramasso, Manager 2-wheel Michelin Motorsport, “Unfortunately, this plan is not an option for Michelin, which has always prioritized MotoGP and MotoE. Taramasso points out that “MotoGP represents the pinnacle of world motorcycling and serves us as the main testing ground for all technological innovations; it is the platform where Michelin develops its expertise, collects a lot of data and sets records in collaboration with manufacturers and the best riders in the world.”
