Musumeci “The Reconstruction Code is born, certain times and fast procedures”

PERUGIA (ITALPRESS) – “In a few weeks, parliament will pass a Reconstruction Code, which we have prepared with the aim of ensuring certain timeframes and fast procedures” in interventions following earthquakes and natural disasters. This was announced by Nello Musumeci, Minister for Civil Protection and Sea Policies in an interview granted to the director of the Corriere Group newspapers, Sergio Casagrande, which will be published tomorrow, Tuesday, March 11, 2025, on the front page, by the Corriere dell’Umbria and on the front pages of the other newspapers of the group.

In the interview, the minister stresses that in our country, “a bitter truth is evident: in Italy, reconstructions cost too much and last too long, from north to south.” But,” he adds, “the remedy is possible” with this new Reconstruction Code that puts an end to a situation that has persisted for too long: “until now,” the minister declares to the director of the Corriere dell’Umbria, “there has been a lack of a single and specific regulation and, above all, a lack of control by the state.

Minister Musumeci then answers questions about the status of reconstruction in the regions affected by the 2016 earthquake (Umbria, Marche, Lazio, and Abruzzo) and initiatives for the economic, social, and cultural recovery of the territories.

On compulsory insurance for businesses operating throughout Italy against events resulting from natural disasters such as landslides, floods, earthquakes and other extreme events and the possibility of postponements of the upcoming deadline (Budget Law of 2024 and mandatory regularization by March 31, 2025), Minister Musumeci says, “They are starting with businesses, I hope without further postponements, and it could soon move to households, but with voluntary adherence.”

Tomorrow Minister Musumeci will be in Umbria – in Foligno and Assisi – for an institutional visit accompanied by the commissioner for the reconstruction of the areas affected by the 2016 earthquake, Senator Guido Castelli.
