Napoli returns lone leader, Lukaku folds Roma

NAPLES (ITALPRESS) – Claudio Ranieri’s new Roma failed to hit the jackpot, who at the “Maradona” played a game that was all in all sufficient in terms of attitude but failed to hurt Napoli, which in turn was not brilliant but still won 1-0 with a goal from ex Lukaku, confirming first place in the standings. Ready to go and Antonio Conte’s men immediately came close to taking the lead with a cross that found all alone Kvaratskhelia, who chose to smash the header missing the mirror: careless, on the occasion, El Shaarawy, who completely lost his mark on the Georgian. The first half slipped away without any particular excitement, with the hosts trying to play the game, finding shooting spaces, but not accuracy, with Politano and McTominay. The Giallorossi, on the other hand, start off with the right aggressiveness trying to counterattack with several men, but without ever bothering Meret. Among the most expected protagonists is Lukaku, who, however, in the first half never enters the heart of the game. The Belgian is seen at the beginning of the second half, with a header at 50′ that ends on the outside of the net and that is the prelude to the goal that arrives four minutes later, on a cross from the usual Di Lorenzo, skilled in insertion and favored by Angelino’s bad reading. The Spanish outfielder tried to make it up to him at 57′ with a backward cross into the area of Baldanzi, who, however, wasted it all by sending it to the stars. Again from the feet of the former Leipzig comes another great chance for Roma, with a cross on which Dovbyk arrives with a header hitting, however, the crossbar. The last minutes saw the Giallorossi create a lot of density in the opponent’s half, but always lacking was the ability to find space to finalize. Indeed, it is the newcomers Mazzocchi and Folorunsho who create a good chance for Napoli’s double, with the midfielder failing to direct well with his header. A Neres shot from the edge of the box was also just out. It ends 1-0 for the Azzurri, who, with the notes of Pino Daniele’s unreleased song, return to breathing the air of the summit.
