New earthquake tremor in Campi Flegrei, magnitude 3.9

NAPLES (ITALPRESS) – Yet another earthquake tremor in the Campi Flegrei area. It was recorded by the National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology at 1:32 p.m. The epicenter was located at a depth of 3 km.

Yet another earthquake tremor in the Phlegraean Fields also felt sharply by the population of Naples in all its neighborhoods. The epicenter always in Pozzuoli, this time not particularly far from via Solfatara, at a depth of 3 km. The quake, recorded at 1:32 p.m., is of magnitude 3.9, according to data provided by the Ingv.

This is the second strongest quake this week, with an intensity almost perfectly intermediate between the 4.4 quake of the night between Wednesday and Thursday and the 3.5 quake yesterday in the early evening. At the moment, there is no news of damage to property or people, but there was an immediate usual tam tam on social networks and chats among citizens who felt the seismic phenomenon, always related to bradyseism.

In the aftermath of the 4.4-magnitude earthquake recorded on the night of March 12-13 and the 3.5- and 3.9-magnitude quakes on March 14 and 15, technicians from the City of Naples, Civil Defense and Fire Department are checking public and private structures.

The shelter in Via Acate, Bagnoli, is fully operational to provide hospitality, including overnight, to people who have had to leave their homes: there are a total of 184, and they belong to 87 households. They were removed from apartments in via Di Niso, via Miseno, via Bagnoli, via Eurialo, and via Pozzuoli.

The city administration has also decided to make available to citizens a facility in Marechiaro, which has a capacity of about 40 places, intended for those in difficult family situations. It can be accessed by people with disabilities, relatives with reduced mobility, and families with infants who, although they have not suffered damage to their homes, find themselves in complex logistical conditions or experience such psychological stress that they do not feel safe in their homes. Checks at schools in the tenth municipality will also continue until tomorrow. The goal is to reopen educational activities in all institutions.
