New Israeli raids in Lebanon, four dead on outskirts of Beirut

ROME (ITALPRESS) – An Israeli attack on Beirut’s southern suburbs killed at least four people and wounded seven others, the Lebanese Health Ministry says. “The Israeli enemy raid in the southern suburbs left three martyrs and seven wounded,” the ministry says, according to a new report.

A senior official of the Lebanese armed group Hezbollah, Hassan Ali Mahmoud Badir, close to the Quds Force of the Iranian Pasdaran, was killed in the attack. Badir’s son was also among the victims.

The IDF previously claimed to have targeted a Hezbollah operative who posed an immediate threat to Israeli civilians.

Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam said an Israeli attack on South Beirut was a “clear violation” of a cease-fire that ended more than a year of hostilities between Israel and Hezbollah.

In a statement released by his office, Salam condemns the attack as “a clear violation of cease-fire agreements” and a “flagrant violation of UN Resolution 1701,” a Security Council decision that ended the 2006 war between Israel and Hezbollah and formed the basis of the November truce. Israel says it targeted a Hezbollah operative who was directing Hamas terrorists and posed an immediate threat to Israeli civilians.
