ROMA (ITALPRESS) – The New York Knicks beat the San Antonio Spurs and win the third edition of the Nba Cup. This is the outcome of the final act staged in the Italian night at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas: had to be a balanced match so it was, eventually the Knicks win with the result of 124-113. The score is balanced until the third quarter, when Spurs command a handful of points (89-94), but at the decisive moment, that is, in the last part, New York accelerates strongly and puts his hands on the game with a partial of 35-19. And it does so in the sign of OG Anunoby, who climbs in the chair during decisive moments and closes the game with the active 28 points fruit of 59% from the field (10/17) and 50% from three (5/10), as well as 9 rebounds. But also and above all in the sign of Jalen Brunson, who this time plays an almost “normal” game compared to the 40 semi-final points against Orlando, still closing the evening with 25 points, 4 rebounds and 8 assists; at the end of the meeting, Brunson is also awarded as Mvp of the Nba Cup, crowning a ride worthy of note that has delivered the first title to the New York Knicks since 1973.
Reading the numbers of the game, the superiority of the Knicks under the basket emerges strongly, both with regard to the bounces in the two half field (59-42) and with regard to the points from the painting (56-42). The field area where it usually dominates Victor Wembanyama, instead, still somewhat out of rhythm and in difficulty against the physicality of the opposing defense: the French finished the game with 18 points from the bench, while the best in terms of production of the Spurs is the rookie Dylan Harper, author of 21 points and 7 rebounds, also left from the bench. Among the other protagonists of the evening, about players who make themselves felt under a basket, Karl-Anthony Towns is very precious with its 16-point double and 11 rebounds, as well as Mitchell Robinson, who collects 15 rebounds. New York writes its name in the gold pit of the competition after Los Angeles Lakers and Milwaukee Bucks.
