YOKOHAMA (GIAPPONE) (ITALPRESS) – The new Nissan LEAF has received the title of Best Auto Compatta in the World by the jury of the Women’s Worldwide Car of the Year (WWCOTY), the only automotive prize in the world made exclusively by women journalists in the car industry.
The new LEAF is the third generation of the first electric car for the mass market in the world and the recognition rewards its elegant design, the excellent performance of the engine and the intuitive technology, as well as its role in accompanying customers towards a future of sustainable mobility.
The WWCOTY award is awarded to vehicles that stand out in the most relevant areas for customers: safety, quality, price, design, ease of driving, advantages and environmental impact. The jury, consisting of 84 car journalists from 54 countries, does not select a “woman’s” car – because cars are not gender-specific – but evaluates vehicles based on universal criteria that affect all motorists.
Founded in 2009 by New Zealand journalist Sandy Myhre, WWCOTY aims to amplify the voice of women in the automotive industry and emphasize the importance of mobility as a key factor for personal and professional opportunities around the world.

Built on the modular CMF-EV platform – the same as Nissan Ariya – the new LEAF has MacPherson suspensions on the front and multi-link axis on the rear, “a combination that offers maximum comfort, balance and control, both in city traffic and in long travel”, reads in a note.
The heart of the Nissan LEAF is an electric motor with 160 kW (218 hp) of power and 355 Nm of torque, with an acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.6 seconds.
