Nissan Micra returns to Europe in 100% electric version

PARIS (FRANCE) (ITALPRESS) – Nissan strengthens its electrification strategy in Europe with the launch of the new Micra 100% electric version, the new Leaf and the new generation of the e-Power powertrain, key models and technologies for the Old Continent market.

First to be launched will be Nissan Micra, which returns to Europe in the form of a stylish, completely redesigned, 100% electric city car. True to the DNA of previous generations, the new Micra will be a boldly styled, compactly sized, practical car designed for the new electric era.

Designed by Nissan Design Europe in London and produced at Renault Ampere’s ElectriCity plant in Douai, France, the new MIcra will be available with two battery options: 40 and 52 kWh, for a maximum range of more than 400 km. The car will be marketed in Europe by the end of the year.

Nissan Leaf, launched in 2010 as the first mass-market electric car, reaches its third generation in 2025. The car, reimagined as a stylish and spacious family-friendly crossover, features an attractive, modern design with aerodynamic lines and for the first time is available with a panoramic roof and 19-inch alloy wheels. Developed on the modular CMF-EV platform (the same as Nissan Ariya), the new LEAF for Europe will be produced at Nissan’s plant in Sunderland, U.K., as part of the EV36Zero project that will create the world’s first electric vehicle production ecosystem. EV36Zero, which involves a total investment of £1 billion, integrates electric vehicle production, batteries and renewable energy and is a key part of Nissan’s vision to achieve complete carbon neutrality by 2050.

Nissan e-Power, launched in Europe in 2022, is a unique powertrain that represents a true hybrid revolution, with a 100% electric motor driving the wheels of the car and a heat engine producing power. A technology characterized by driving pleasure and efficiency that has already won some 250,000 customers in Europe, including 28,000 in Italy. Following the Japanese Kaizen principle of continuous improvement, the new generation of e-POWER, coming in 2025, offers benefits in terms of lower fuel consumption, lower emissions and quieter driving. The driving experience thus comes even closer to that of a 100% electric vehicle. In fiscal year 2026, the third generation of the Juke compact crossover is scheduled to be launched as a 100% electric version and based on the Hyper Punk concept car unveiled in October 2023 at the Japan Mobility Show.

“The new additions to the Nissan range presented today are part of our electrification strategy in Europe. All of the new models share Nissan’s DNA of attractive design, innovative and intuitive technologies, and a range of benefits that will consolidate our customer base and attract new ones,” said Leon Dorssers, Regional Senior Vice President, Sales & Marketing, Nissan AMIEO.

“In addition to welcoming the return of MICRA as an EV and the third generation LEAF, we have further improved our e-POWER, one of Nissan’s most popular customer technologies. Always more responsive and quieter than a conventional hybrid, the new generation of Nissan e-POWER offers lower fuel consumption, lower emissions and quieter operation. E-POWER is the ideal solution for those who want a driving experience close to that of a 100% electric vehicle,” commented David Moss, Senior Vice President, Region Research & Development, AMIEO. The announcement of the new electrified models for Europe is part of a global range expansion with upcoming model launches also in Japan, the United States, China, Latin America, the Middle East, India, Africa and Oceania.
