Nissan X-Trail, 25 years and over 8 million units sold

ROMA (ITALPRESS) – For 25 years, Nissan X-Trail is one of the most successful Nissan SUVs globally. Launched in 2001 and subsequently introduced in the United States under the name Rogue, the model evolved from robust and practical SUVs to electrified and technologically advanced crossovers, without losing its fundamental DNA of strength and versatility.

The name reflects its character: “X” for extreme activities and “Trail” for the ability to deal with every type of track, even the most challenging. At the time of launch, Nissan positioned X-Trail as “the SUV that combines exceptional sports and versatility”. The original print material underlined how it offered an alternative to traditional 4×4 off-roads, but with lower consumption, improved manoeuvrability and a more affordable price.

“With its simple, practical and robust design, X-Trail was immediately appreciated by young families who loved outdoor activities and customers with an active lifestyle,” said Shinchiro Irie, Program Design Director. Since spring 2001, the winning formula of X-Trail has remained unchanged: functional design, practicality in everyday use and performance on any type of track.

“X-Trail is a functional crossover that adapts to every stage of life. His design never sacrifices functionality and functionality never compromises design,” explained Satoru Tanaka, Chief Product Specialist.

Over the course of four generations, the model has built a strong presence in global markets, achieving commercial success in Africa, Oceania, Asia and South America. Starting from the third generation, he entered the US market with the name Rogue, where he became – and remains – Nissan’s best-selling vehicle.

Today, X-Trail continues this tradition with Nissan’s e-POWER hybrid technology and the integral and-4ORCE traction system, offering low consumption, high performance, driving pleasure, safety and control in all conditions.

X-Trail is now marketed in 95 countries around the world, where up to now it has sold over 8 million units.
