ROME (ITALPRESS) – “Punishing magistrates if they express political opinions is not an issue on the agenda and it is not our bill, it is rather a reflection that we have been doing for some time on the fact that some of them express themselves in rough and aggressive terms, as happened recently against government officials, and on what the consequences may be: at this moment, however, there is nothing concrete.” So says Justice Minister Carlo Nordio, a guest on Five Minutes on Rai1.
“The idea of executive control over the decisions of judges, is an old petulant litany that has no rational basis. The separation of careers exists in all democratic countries where the accusatory process has been established, which has existed in Italy since 1988: I don’t see where there can be any lese majesty towards the judiciary,” he added.
