ROME (ITALPRESS) – “We now consume about 300 billion kWh of electricity, all forecasts, analysts predict that in the next 15 to 20 years this consumption will be more than doubled, we will not reach this goal without also bringing in the new nuclear power, with small reactors to meet the needs of Italians.”
This was said by the Minister of the Environment and Energy Security, Gilberto Pichetto Fratin, host of Radio 24. “On the timing, we are talking about a couple of years to be ready with the legal framework,” he added, “and at the beginning of the next decade the evaluations on the power plants will be made, when there will be small modular reactors.” The minister later recalled that “referendums in Italy are abrogative, this choice does not go against that decision, the bill says there will be no more large power plants.”
