ROMA (ITALPRESS) – “There have been two years since the ignominy of the massacre carried out by the Hamas terrorists against thousands of unarmed civilians and innocent Israelis, including women and children. Unspeakable crimes that make October 7 one of the darkest pages of history. Today we renew our closeness to the families of the victims and return to demand the release of the hostages, who are still waiting to return home after two years of imprisonment, harassment and suffering.” The President of the Council Giorgia Meloni said this in a note.
“The violence of Hamas has triggered an unprecedented crisis in the Middle East. The military reaction of Israel has gone beyond every principle of proportionality, and is reaping too many innocent victims among the civilian population of Gaza – continues Meloni. Today’s anniversary falls at a time when the concrete possibility of ending this war is seen. The peace plan presented by President Trump – who met with the firm support not only of the European Nation, but also of the Arab and Islamic countries – offers an opportunity that must not be wasted, in order to reach a permanent cessation of hostilities, to bring back the hostages still in the hands of Hamas and to start a process towards a framework of peace and security throughout the Middle East”.
“We all have the duty to do what is in our possibilities for this precious and fragile occasion to succeed. Italy has never missed its contribution in this direction, and will continue to do its part,” the premier concludes.
