On 23 and 24 January in Milan the International Tourism Forum with Meloni, LaRussia and Santanché

ROMA (ITALPRESS) – The third edition of the International Tourism Forum, promoted by the Ministry of Tourism in collaboration with Enit, will be held in Milan, Friday 23rd and Saturday 24th January 2026. At the centre of the work, moderated by Nicola Porro and Giancarla Rondinelli, the theme of undertourism and the valorization of the less-known territories: villages, indoor areas, mountains and smaller islands as strategic assets for a more balanced, sustainable and widespread development of Italian tourism. The dialogue promoted by the event will involve representatives of the Government, mayors, industry operators, associations of category and national and European institutions, international platforms and testimonials of the world of culture and sport. Particular attention will be paid to the directors of the territories who address the major criticalities in the management of flows, in order to favor a proactive and collaborative comparison, also in view of the great opportunities deriving from the imminent Winter Olympic Games Milan-Cortina 2026, as a model of widespread development and opportunity to relaunch for the mountain and the less-groomed destinations. It is also an area for European policies for small centres, the contribution of the Regions and the virtuous experiences of the Municipalities.

To open the Forum, on January 23 at 14:00, will be the institutional greetings of the mayor of Milan Giuseppe Sala, the president of the Lombardy Region Attilio Fontana, the president of the Senate Ignazio La Russo and the president of the Council Giorgia Meloni, in video connection. It will follow the programme of the Minister of Tourism Daniela Garnero Santanchè, who will illustrate the vision of the executive on the tourist industry of the next ten years, with a focus on innovation, competitiveness and rebalance of flows. In particular, in the first day, the Minister for Sport and Young Andrea Abodi will participate in the panel on Milan Cortina 2026, which will be a great example of decentralization in favor of the distribution of flows on different locations. In addition, Alessandra Ghisleri will present a survey on small centres to identify the needs of the Italian tourism industry on which the Government can intervene. Reflectors also focused on Europe and small centres, with the participation of the Executive Vice-President of the European Commission and European Commissioner for Regional Policy and Cohesion Raffaele Fitto. The second day, which will begin at 9:00 on 24 January, will see the participation of the Minister of Agriculture, the Sovereign Food and Forests Francesco Lollobrigida, in the context of the construction of a national strategy of DOP tourism that enhances the link between territorial identity, quality productions and tourist attraction.

Finally, the Minister of the Interior Matteo Piantedosi, together with the minister Santanchè and the signatory mayors, will sign the pact of Amalfi, the interinstitutional protocol aimed at strengthening multilevel coordination in the management, sustainability and safety of the tourist flows and in the protection of the most exposed territories. The International Tourism Forum confirms itself as a central moment of discussion and proposal on public policies for the sector, with the aim of strengthening the role of Italy as a destination capable of combining economic growth, sustainability, quality of the offer and enhancement of the territories.
