ROMA (ITALPRESS) – Today, the first call was made for the examinations of the open semester of Medicine in the 44 universities involved throughout Italy. This is the new way to access the master’s single-cycle degree courses in Medicine and Surgery, Dentistry and Dentistry, Veterinary, introduced by the reform desired by the Minister of the University and Research, Anna Maria Bernini, who provides free access to the courses of the medical area and the abolition of the entry test, replaced by a formative path within the university. For the academic year 2025/26 the places available in the medical area degree courses are, in fact, 19.707 (out of a total of 27.175 considering non-states and courses in English for the three degree classes). Inscriptions on the first call show a very wide and homogeneous participation. The average registration rate for the three exams is 87% compared to the total number of students. 53.504 enrolled in biology (87%), 53.433 in chemistry (87%), while inscriptions reached 53.003 (86%). In most universities, the percentages of admission to the three exams exceed 85%, in line with the national average.

Participation therefore appears broad and homogeneous, a sign that students have perfectly understood the operation and timing of the open semester. The first appeal saw 870 examination commissioners and 1,076 classroom officials appointed by the universities to ensure the orderly conduct of examinations in the 44 locations identified by universities. In addition to them, 192 Cineca professionals work to ensure the technical, computer and logistics management of the entire process. In addition, 231,900 examination tests with relevant materials were prepared and distributed. The second appeal of the open semester is set for December 10 and represents an additional possibility for those who chose not to support all three tests or for those who did not pass one of the three tests. In order to be able to access the national ranking, for the purposes of the continuation of the second semester, the student will have to pass all three tests with a minimum vote of 18/30.
