ROMA (ITALPRESS) – More than six million Italians will travel for Christmas, confirming the desire to move despite the still uncertain economic context. 83% of travellers will stay in Italy, and between them 25% will choose locations close to their region of residence, preferring destinations easily accessible. One million will choose instead to travel in European capital or in an extra European country. In 60% of cases it will be a short holiday, with a maximum of 1 or 2 overnight stays. It is what emerges from an analysis of Confturismo/Confcommercio.
29% will allocate in hotel facilities, while 40% will opt for the house of friends and relatives or for second homes. The top ten of the destinations sees in the head the mountain with 20% of the preferences, followed by seaside resorts and art cities, which remain very appreciated choices in the Christmas period.
59% of Italians will travel in pairs, 36% with their children, while 11% will leave alone. The average expenditure is around 390 euro per person. The prevailing choice of short holidays shows how Italians continue to travel, adapting however duration and mode of stay to an economic context still attentive to costs.
