KVITFJELL (NORWAY) (ITALPRESS) – Dominik Paris wins the downhill in Kvitfjell, valid for the Alpine Ski World Cup. The Italian (1’44″67) returns to victory after more than a year (Val Gardena December 2023) and beats the Swiss Marco Odermatt, second at 0″32, and Stefan Rogentin, third at 0″63. Victory number 23 (19th in the downhill), in the World Cup for the Carabinieri’s pinnacle soldier on the force of the Carabinieri Sport Center – Winter Sports Section of Selva di Val Gardena, who trimmed 83 hundredths off Franjo Von Allmen (4th) and 89 hundredths off Alexis Monney (5th).
“It’s amazing to have won here. I feel great in Kvitfjell and have always liked it as a track. Usually the conditions are always good and today they were too and I was able to bring a lot of speed to the bottom. I was also lucky to find no wind during my run.”
Florian Schieder and Christof Innerhofer paid 2″16 and 2″43, respectively, from their teammate to finish 18th and 22nd, with Nicolò Molteni 2″70 behind, Giovanni Franzoni 2″79 and Benjamin Alliod 3″90; however, Matteo Franzoso did not complete the race.
With two races left in the season, the specialty standings offer only slight adjustments: Odermatt (525 points) stretches to the top over Von Allmen (422) and Monney (305) with Paris jumping to seventh place at 222. Similar discourse for the overall, which sees Odermatt now unreachable (1386) with 440 points ahead of Kristoffersen and 655 ahead of Meillard; Paris (384) joins the injured Mattia Casse (382): the two Italians now occupy 13th and 14th places.
