LUBIANA (SLOVENIA) (ITALPRESS) – The party to the government in Slovenia, Freedom Movement (Gs), is in a slight advantage after the 99.28% ballot of seats in parliamentary elections held yesterday in the country. It was announced by the Slovenian Election Commission (Dik). The Freedom Movement of Prime Minister Robert Golob, of liberal orientation, obtained 28,54%, or 325.757 votes. The centre-right Slovenian Democratic Party (Sds) force of Janez Jansa scored 0.37% less (321.521), according to N1. The first exit polls showed a greater difference between Freedom Movement and Sds (2.4% in favor of Gs), but the changes have already arrived with the first official results of the Dik out of 45% of the scrutiny votes, when it seemed that Sds would obtain greater support
. Considering the small differences between the main ruling party and the opposition party, in order to proclaim the final winner it will be necessary to wait for the results of the vote by post and abroad. Five other parties also entered the Parliament: New Slovenia with 9.33% of votes (nine seats), the Social Democrats with 6.71%, the Democrats of Anze Logar with 6.69% (six seats each), the Resnica party (Verity) with 5.57% and the Left with 5.40% of consents (five seats each).
The largest number of seats was obtained by the Freedom Movement – 29 – but together with the current coalition partners (SD and Left) has a total of 40 seats, six less than those needed to form a government.
The SDS has 28 seats, one more than the previous legislation, and with its potential partners New Slovenia and Democrats it reaches 43 seats.
Golob said he had spent the evening in great expectation, but not so much for the result, as well as especially to be able to say that it goes on. “And this is the most important thing… We expect difficult negotiations, but on one thing we will not negotiate: our sovereignty. We will not allow foreigners to rule here,” said Golob, referring to the recent spy scandal that involved the collaboration between Israeli private intelligence service “Black Cube” and SDS opposition.
A decisive role in the formation of the government will be played by the Resnica party, whose leader Zoran Stevanovic stressed that he will not enter into coalition with the SDS and that will engage in the fight against corruption and strengthening of sovereignism.
