PARIGI (FRANCIA) (ITALPRESS) – Renault Group and Ford today announced a historic strategic partnership to expand the supply of Ford electric vehicles for European customers, considerably strengthening the competitiveness of both companies in a rapidly changing European automotive landscape. Among the key elements of this collaboration is the partnership agreement for the development of two separate Ford electric vehicles. The new models, based on the Ampere platform, can count on the solid strengths and competitiveness of Renault Group in electric vehicles. They will be produced by Renault Group in the north of France, with the expertise and the cutting-edge industrial experience of the ElectriCity Centre in Ampere. Designed by Ford and developed with Renault Group, these two vehicles will offer unique road performance, Ford’s authentic DNA, as well as an intuitive user experience. This is the first phase of a new and ambitious Ford product in Europe. The arrival of the first vehicle at the dealers is expected at the beginning of 2028. In addition to the collaboration on electric vehicles, Renault Group and Ford also signed a letter of intent (LOI) on the collaboration on light commercial vehicles in Europe. In this context, partners will assess the possibility of developing and producing together some lightweight Renault and Ford commercial vehicles.
“It is proud that Renault Group announces the new strategic collaboration with Ford, an iconic automotive manufacturer. This partnership demonstrates the strength of our know-how in partnership and our competitiveness in Europe. In the long term, joining forces with Ford will make us more innovative and responsive on a rapidly changing European automotive market,” said François Provost, CEO of Renault Group. “This strategic partnership with Renault Group is an important step forward for Ford and supports our strategy to build a high-efficiency and in line with future challenges in Europe. We will combine the industrial processes and strengths of Renault Group in electric vehicles with iconic design and road performance that characterize Ford to create pleasant and performing vehicles that embody the Ford spirit” said Jim Farley, Chairman and CEO of Ford Motor Company.
The two companies will be able to count on the proven capabilities and competitiveness of the Renault Group Ampere platform, as well as its production ecosystem of electric vehicles and industrial sites located in northern France (ElectriCity), to create two new Ford branded electric vehicles. By combining their skills as European players at the level of innovation, design, software and service performance, Renault Group and Ford are aiming to address the current challenges of the industry and offer customers a better service both on the automotive market and on the commercial vehicle market. The strategic partnership between Renault Group and Ford will merge decades of experience in light commercial vehicles with industrial processes and the broad network of suppliers of both Groups, thus creating an extraordinary force to stimulate innovation and efficiency on the European market.
