ROMA (ITALPRESS) – The fifth meeting of the Cabin of the Mattei Plan for Africa was held in Palazzo Chigi, chaired by the Vice-President of the Council of Ministers and Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Antonio Tajani. The meeting was attended by members of the Government of the Cabin of Regia, the presidents of the Foreign Commissions of the Chamber and Senate, the Conference of Regions and Autonomous Provinces, the Anci and a broad representation of the Italian System, the Entities and the companies of the State and the companies in public participation, the world of university and research, the third sector, including a representation of the diaspora in Italy, and of cooperation and of the associations of category.

During the meeting, the results of the second Italy-Africa Summit were illustrated, held in Addis Ababa on 13 February. In view of the incremental logic that characterizes the implementation of the Mattei Plan, the expansion to four new Nations – Gabon, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Rwanda and Zambia – has also been recalled, leading to eighteen the total number of Nations involved in the projects.

The meeting focused on the deepening of the ongoing projects within two vertical themes: the management of water resources, the priority theme chosen by the African Union for 2026, and education and vocational training, in synergy with the many Italian actors involved. Finally, in this context, it was recalled that Italy will co-chair the Global Partnership for Education cycle closing summit in Rome with Nigeria next June.
