Pirelli with new P7 for GTO equips all Ferrari supercars

MILAN (ITALPRESS) – With the Cinturato P7 developed for the Ferrari GTO, Pirelli completes the equipment for Ferrari’s Supercar range. This tire made its first road outing in October at the GTO Legacy Tour 2024. The new product will flank the recently developed P Zero family tires for the Ferrari Enzo, as well as those already available for the other famous supercars: the Ferrari F40, F50, LaFerrari and LaFerrari Aperta. Forty years ago the progenitor of Ferrari’s Supercar range, the GTO, was launched. To celebrate the anniversary, Ferrari organized, for owners of this model, a tour that started in the Dolomites and went all the way to Maranello. It was on this occasion that the new Cinturato P7 from the Pirelli Collezione range, the tire line dedicated to the most iconic classic and youngtimer cars in history, made its road debut. This tire, derived from the experience gained in the World Rally Championship since 1974 and then launched on production cars in 1976, was the first ultra-low profile tire to be introduced to the market. Its main characteristic lay in the lower sidewall than the tread width, a never-before-seen ratio that greatly increased cornering grip. Today it is back in the range for the Ferrari GTO in the original sizes (225/50 R16 front and 265/50 R16 rear) and, like all the tires in the Collezione family, is characterized by an appearance quite similar to that of the time, but made with modern materials and technologies.Picking up the baton from the GTO, in 1987 came the Ferrari F40, the first mass-produced car to use Pirelli P Zero tires as original equipment that same year. This product right from the start brought with it important innovations: a 17-inch tread pattern, unprecedented for a road car, and innovative technological solutions to reach a top speed of more than 300km/h. Today a version of P Zero dedicated to the F40 is available in the Pirelli Collezione catalog in 245/40 R17 front and 335/35 R17 rear sizes. Also for the next model, the Ferrari F50, presented at the 1995 Geneva Motor Show, Pirelli developed dedicated tires based on the P Zero Corsa System (245/35 R18 at the front and 335/30 R18 at the rear). This tire, designed in the early 2000s to be the sportiest tire in the road range, has a specific structure that gives it maximum stability at high speeds and when cornering, allowing it to be used on the track as well. A new P Zero Corsa System, dedicated to the Ferrari Enzo, also recently entered the Pirelli Collezione range in sizes 245/35 R19 front and 345/35 R19 rear. The new tire was tested together with Ferrari test drivers, rediscovering the same sporty character of the era, now combined with increased safety and reliability thanks to the use of the most up-to-date compounds.Pirelli tires accompany the evolution of Ferrari supercars: from the GTO to the latest generation of supercars from the Maranello company. The 2013 LaFerrari and 2016 LaFerrari Aperta are, in fact, also Pirelli tires. Available for these two cars is the P Zero Corsa Asimmetrico 2, an ultra-high performance tire from the Pirelli P Zero range, the line that is linked to the most prestigious and extreme cars of the past 4 decades and to motorsport, starting with Formula 1, an open-air laboratory for transferring technologies developed on the track to the road.
