Poker at Monza, Roma back in the race for Europe

ROME (ITALPRESS) – Roma beat Monza 4-0, clinching its 10th consecutive win in Serie A and officially joining the race for a place in Europe. At the Stadio Olimpico, in fact, the Giallorossi played a mature team’s game, getting a victory that was never in question and moving to -2 from sixth-place Fiorentina, while waiting to know what will be the outcome of the rematch between Bologna and Milan, currently just one point apart. Compared to eve’s predictions, Ranieri opts for a more restrained turnover, reintroducing Hummels in the center of defense with Mancini and N’Dicka on either side. In midfield there is Pisilli alongside Cristante, while Baldanzi and Soulè are in support of Shomurodov. Nesta, on the other hand, confirms the starting lineup seen against Lecce, apart from Lekovic and Brorsson in place of D’Ambrosio (injured) and Izzo (disqualified). Roma took the field with a good attitude, moving the ball well and building the first goal ball at 5′ with Soulè’s backward pass to Pisilli, who with the mirror fully open shoots it out. The lead came in 10′, and it was an invention by Saelemaekers: the Belgian faked the cross and sent Kyriakopoulos offside, went to the center and left-footed an impregnable volley for Turati. The Giallorossi were in absolute control of operations and found the double on 32′: Soulè again looked for space and found Shomurodov in the center of the area, who scored with a header. On the twilight of the first half, Bianco, certainly the best of his team, finds the vertical for Ganvoula, whose cross shot is destined for the low corner but finds the great reflex of Svilar. In the second half, the plot does not change: Roma manages the ball without any fears, while Monza, decimated by numerous absences (to which Carboni is added during the match), does not have the strength to react. Here, then, comes the icing on the cake at 73′: Hummels pushes himself over the middle of the field and serves Cristante, who sees Angelino free who, from the left vertex of the area, fires the specialty of the house, that is, a left-footed outside-neck shot that goes in at the far post. To close the match definitively is the poker signed by Cristante’s header on the corner kick taken by Dybala. With this further defeat, Monza slips to -9 from the fourth-last place and sees their salvation goal become even more complicated. On the next day Roma will take on Como, the last team capable of beating the Giallorossi in the league, while Monza will face Torino. – photo Ipa Agency -(ITALPRESS).
