ROMA (ITALPRESS) – “We inherited a federation from a great president, Mario Scarzella, who brought great results. Our goal is clearly to stay at those levels and, if we succeed, even to do a little better. This has led to an expansion of the forces that are, under the technical standpoint, necessary for a federation that will face the Olympics and Paralympics with an expansion of the whole technical sector, which we have expanded with greater resources, also economic”. At the end of the month the president of Fitarco, Vittorio Polidori, will cut the milestone of the first year leading a federation that, in terms of performance and medals, has accustomed well Italian sportsmen.
“The first goal of an Olympic federation as ours is clearly going to the Games and winning – explains in an interview with Italpress the Roman leader, class 1963 – Clearly it is not simple, there are 100 nations that will play access to the Olympics. For Los Angeles 2028 we have an extra chance, like all the others, that is the compound. At first it had not been chosen as a new Olympic discipline, then instead we arrived this fantastic news that we received very well, because as a federation we are at a high level regarding the compound, which for so long has aspired to enter the program to five circles”.
The compound, therefore, is the novelty for Los Angeles 2028 that goes along with the Mixed Team race the Olympic program of the curved arch. What we must expect at the level of athletes and ambitions is soon said: “We are always ambitious, it is a characteristic of our federation – says Polidori – We are put quite well, the fact that there was the possibility of an insertion of the discipline in the Olympic program has made us already prepared. We had already arranged and in some way structured a path that until a few years ago was not so outlined. We now find ourselves having a good organization on the territory, we have good athletes within our National Team who have done well for years in World Cup and Europe, so we are confident to access the Olympics with this mixed team and maybe win some medals.”.
Before Los Angeles 2028, the blue arc will have to honor many appointments. Rome, for example, will be the hub of the events of 2026 with three archeristic events, a national and two international. “First of all, from 26 February to 1 March at the Fiera di Roma will take place the Italian indoor championships, perhaps the largest European race with about 1300 athletes and a total induced of 2,500-3,000 people. It is a manifestation that will come to Rome after years in which she went on stage in Rimini and then in Pordenone. This year he will return to the Italian Centre and clearly the organizers are trying to put the maximum of the commitment, so I’m sure it will be a beautiful event. Also in Rome, at the end of May, we will have the European para-arcieri, a kermesse that Rome now hosts from different editions. Also this is a showcase, our boys ‘para’ will certainly show what they have already shown to the previous Paralympics, but also to Europeans and Worlds. Finally, at the end of July, the European Youth, dedicated to our young talents will be held in the capital”.
Precisely in view of the future of the blue archeristic movement, Polidori emphasizes that the federation has invested strongly “on the territorial part, implementing the resources destined both to the technical and structural part. The regional committees have more resources available to organize and work on our young people. It was an important investment that the federation will continue over time, because we strongly believe – concludes the number one of the Fitarco – that the youthful part is the one that requires a greater focus to be able, a tomorrow, to give support to the high level”
