Pope Francis at Emma Bonino’s home “She’s doing great”

ROME (ITALPRESS) – The Pope paid a surprise visit to the home of Emma Bonino, who was recently discharged from the hospital, Vatican News reports. Pope Francis, returning from the Gregorian University, stopped by the home in central Rome of the former foreign minister and leader of PiĆ¹ Europa who was hospitalized in mid-October for respiratory problems and later transferred to a private facility. Once outside the front door of the home, he was approached by some curious people who asked him what condition he found Bonino, who had previously recovered from cancer, in. “Very well,” the pontiff replied.
Pope Francis and Emma Bonino have met several times in the past, starting on Nov. 4, 2015 when the former foreign minister took part in the Wednesday general audience in Paul VI Hall. For Bonino’s work on behalf of migrants, Pope Francis had praised her during an informal meeting at Santa Marta.
