ROME (ITALPRESS) – “Doing good always, because constancy rewards those who work faithfully: you know this well, in the field of insurance. Do good to all, beginning with the most needy, according to the social doctrine of the Church, which you witness in so many charitable works.” So said Pope Francis, who welcomed in audience a Delegation of the Catholic Foundation of Verona. “Let us not forget,” the Pontiff added, “that money yields more when it is invested for the benefit of others. This is important. There is a very bad situation now about investments. In some countries the investments that give the most income are the arms factories: investing to kill. They are crazy! This is not for the benefit of the people. And when you do that, against or outside of the benefit of the people, money ages and burdens the heart, making it hard and deaf to the voice of the poor. The first thing to be discarded for selfishness is the poor, it is curious this. When we put wealth at the service of human dignity, we can only gain from it, always: promoting the common good, in fact, improves the bonds of society in which we all participate. In the face of educational and labor emergencies, I urge you to continually renew your trust in God’s Providence, which lovingly guides history, calling us to build a future according to justice. I bless you from the bottom of my heart.
