Pope Leo XIV “Mother Teresa of Calcutta prophetic, the greatest destroyer of peace is abortion”

VATICAN CITY (ITALPRESS) – “Peace is above all a gift, because we receive it from those who precede us in history: It is a good thing to thank. Peace is an alliance, which is responsible for a common commitment: to honor it, when there is, and to realize it, when it is missing. Peace, finally, is promised, because it supports our hope in a better world, and as such is sought by all people of good will”. Pope Leo XIV said this, receiving in audience at the Apostolic Palace participants at the conference “One Humanity, One Planet”. “Policy plays an irreplaceable social function here: I therefore urge you to cooperate more and more in the study of participatory forms involving all citizens, men and women, in the institutional life of the States. On these bases it will be possible to build that universal fraternity that already among you young people is announced as a sign of a new time: your work, in fact, finds its highest expression when it works for a humanity pacified in justice – the Pontiff added -. To this end, I invite you to reflect on the fact that there will be no peace without ending the war that humanity does to itself when it rejects those who are weak, when it excludes those who are poor, when it remains indifferent to the refugee and oppression. Only those who care for children can do really great things. Mother Teresa of Calcutta, saint of the last and Nobel Peace Prize, stated in this regard that “the greatest destroyer of peace is abortion” (Address to the National Prayer Breakfast, 3 February 1994). His voice remains prophetic: no policy can in fact serve people if it excludes from life those who are coming to the world, if it does not help those who are in material and spiritual indigence.”.

“In front of the many challenges of the present you have courage, remembering that you are not alone in seeking universal fraternity: the only God gives us the earth as a common house for all peoples. The title of your conference, “One Humanity, One Planet”, deserves therefore to be completed with “One God” – the Pope concluded –: recognizing in him the good creator, our religions call us to contribute to social progress, always seeking the common good that has for foundation justice and peace”.
