President Mattarella three days in Milan for the Games

ROMA (ITALPRESS) – The President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella, will take part Monday 2 February in Milan at the inauguration of the 145th Session of the International Olympic Committee scheduled at the Teatro alla Scala at 7 pm. Soon before the Head of State will meet the members of the CIO in the Alessi Hall of Palazzo Marino in a traditional welcome ceremony. The Head of State will then return to Milan in the late morning of Thursday 5 and will go to the Olympic Village where it will be welcomed by the President of CONI, Luciano Buonfiglio, and the Head of Mission, Carlo Mornati. Mattarella, who will be accompanied by her daughter, Mrs. Laura, will first sign her at the Murale della Tregua Olimpica and then greet the Italian Delegation in the Meeting Room of the Chefs of Mission. After visiting the building where the Italian Team is staying, you will spend breakfast with the athletes and blue athletes at the canteen of the Olympic Village. In the evening the President of the Republic will participate in the Dinner for Heads of State offered by the President of the CIO, Kirsty Coventry, and will take place at the Fabbrica del Vapore.

On Friday morning 6 February, President Mattarella, accompanied by Mrs. Laura, will assist in cutting the ribbon for the inauguration of Casa Italia at the Triennale, where he will visit the exhibition “Muse” specially set up by the Coni, also in collaboration with the Olympic Museum of Lausanne. Finally, in the evening Mattarella will be at the San Siro Stadium where it will represent the Italian State at the opening ceremony of the XXV edition of the Winter Olympic Games and, like its predecessors Giovanni Gronchi (in 1956 in Cortina and in 1960 in Rome) and Carlo Azeglio Ciampi (in 2006 in Turin), will declare open the Games of Milan Cortina 2026.
