Prognosis cleared for Pope, will continue treatment at hospital

ROME (ITALPRESS) – According to reports from the Vatican press office, the Holy Father’s clinical condition continues to be stable. The improvements recorded in the previous days have been further consolidated, as confirmed by both blood tests and clinical objectivity and the good response to drug therapy.

For these reasons, doctors on today’s day decided to dissolve the prognosis. However, in view of the complexity of the clinical picture and the important infectious picture presented on admission, it will be necessary to continue, for additional days, medical drug therapy in a hospital setting.

This morning the Holy Father was able to follow the spiritual exercises in connection with the Paul VI Hall, then received the Eucharist and went to the Chapel of the private apartment for a moment of prayer. In the afternoon he again joined the Curia’s spiritual exercises, following in video connection. During the day he alternated between prayer and rest.

Earlier today, the Pontiff sent Monsignor Carlos Alfonso Azpiroz Costa, Archbishop of Bahía Blanca, a telegram of condolence for the victims of the floods that have struck Bahía Blanca, Argentina: “Learning with sorrow of the natural disaster that is striking the region of Bahia Blanca, which has caused so many victims and material damage, I offer fervent suffrage for the eternal repose of the dead. In addition, I want to make all the people feel my spiritual closeness, praying the Lord to give comfort to those who are suffering in these moments of pain and uncertainty, but also support and gratitude all those who are engaged in the search for the missing and in starting the process of reconstruction of the evacuated areas.”
