BRUSSELS (BELGIUM) (ITALPRESS) – About 7,300 farmers protested in Brussels against the agreement between the EU and Mercosur, the South American economic organization based in Montevideo, Uruguay. According to the Belgian newspaper Le Soir, several incidents broke out in the European Quarter, forcing the police to end the event. The agents used water supply and tear gas, always according to the newspaper, to disperse the protesters. An impressive police presence was deployed to protect the European institutions during the summit of EU Heads of State and Government, opened today in Brussels.
