Q8 Italy, signed preliminary purchase agreement Agriferr and ArMa

ROME (ITALPRESS) – Q8 Italy has signed a preliminary agreement to purchase 100 percent of the shares of Agriferr and ArMa, companies active in Biogas/Biomethane and BioGNL production, an agreement in line with Q8’s vision for an energy transition that combines positive impact on the environment and energy security of the country’s system. Agriferr is a company that owns a plant for the production of BioGNL-operating from the end of 2023 with a production of 2.5 million standard cubic meters per year-active for years in the production of Biogas from agricultural by-products with a plant that will be converted to the production of Biomethane-with a potential of 2.1 million standard cubic meters per year-.
ArMa operates a Biogas production plant, from agricultural waste and residues, which will also be converted to Biomethane production, reaching an annual output of 2.1 million standard cubic meters per year.
The integration of the agricultural supply chain with the energy supply chain for the production of Biomethane and BioGNL represents one of the key steps on a path toward increasingly sustainable mobility models from a circular economy perspective. In this context, in fact, agricultural waste, instead of being considered waste, becomes a resource for the production of renewable energy, reducing environmental impact and contributing to a drastic reduction in CO2 emissions. The synergy between the agricultural supply chain and bioenergy production jointly promotes the sustainability of the energy sector and the concrete decarbonization of transport, enhancing the calculation of fuel emissions in the entire life cycle of the product-from the source of energy to distribution, to final use-allowing the real benefit to the environment to be assessed. An agreement, the one signed today, that will allow the Company to directly enter the production chain of Biomethane and BioGNL, which can then be distributed on the Q8 sales network of more than 2800 plants spread throughout Italy, in which the Company continues to invest by building a modern multi-energy and multi-service network.
Today’s transaction is perfectly consistent with the recent acquisition of a 50 percent stake in Eco Fox, a company active in the biogenic fuels market, which marked the Q8 Group’s entry into the production of advanced and sustainable biofuels.
“The agreement to purchase the two Biogas/Biomethane and BioGNL companies,” said Bashar Alawadhi, CEO of Q8 Italy, “is fully in line with the strategy of ensuring sustainable mobility and a diversified energy mix. Thanks to the trust that shareholders place in the Italian and European market, Q8 continues to strengthen its long-term commitment to the energy transition, – continued Bashar Alawadhi – supporting the growth of the circular economy and sustainable energies such as Biogas/Biomethane and BioGNL that can immediately make a fundamental contribution in the decarbonization of transport.”
