Quiet night for the pope

ROME (ITALPRESS) – Pope Francis “spent a quiet night, he is resting.” The Holy See press office reported this in Monday morning’s bulletin.

A new update on the Pontiff’s condition is expected later this afternoon. Earlier in the day on Sunday, Cardinal Michael Czerny had read during Mass in St. Peter’s Square the homily prepared by the Holy Father on the occasion of the Jubilee of the World of Volunteers: “The world is in the hands of evil powers, which crush peoples with the arrogance of their calculations and the violence of war,” one of the passages.

Bergoglio had also wanted to thank in his homily the volunteers present in Rome: “I thank you very much, dear ones, because following the example of Jesus you serve your neighbor without serving your neighbor,” he wrote. And again, “In the deserts of poverty and loneliness, so many small gestures of gratuitous service make sprouts of new humanity bloom: that garden that God has dreamed and continues to dream for all of us.”
