ROMA (ITALPRESS) – Carlos Alcaraz increases his lead on Jannik Sinner in the new ATP ranking by 300 points. The blue only earned 100, due to the elimination of the quarterfinals against Jakub Mensik at the ATP 500 in Doha. The Spanish, instead of 400, for having won the title in Qatar: the 500 awarded for the success in the tournament must in fact be removed the 100 he had obtained in the edition 2025. Sinner now has 10,400 points, 3.150 less than his rival Alcaraz, at this point sure to remain number 1 of the world even after the first two Masters 1000 of the season, Indian Wells and Miami. So at least equal the 66 weeks of Sinner’s career number 1. In the two stages of the Sunshine Double, in fact, Jannik can earn up to 2000 points, if he triumphs in both tournaments, which he did not dispute last year due to the forced stop. Not enough to fill the current gap with Alcaraz. The Spanish, which in 2025 reached the semi-final in Indian Wells, lost to Jack Draper, and was surprisingly eliminated at the debut in Miami by the Belgian David Goffin, will see only 410 points coming out of his chart. So you can add a maximum of 1.590.
Regarding the Italians two players in Top 5 (Standard Lorenzo Musetti) and three in Top 20 (Flavio Cobolli, semi-finalist in Delray Beach and in the field this week in Acapulco as Mattia Bellucci). Luciano Darderi, who will be engaged in Santiago, is always number 21, with the aim of guaranteeing Italy for the first time the presence of four players among the top 20 of the world in the ATP ranking. The Top 100 Italians became eight, because Luca Nardi slipped to position number 109 because the points of the eighth finals at the ATP 500 in Doha in 2025. And he risked finishing even further, not being qualified in Dubai where last year he had reached the first quarter of ATP final. Among the best 20 Italians, who earns more positions this week is the perugino Francesco Passaro (144, +19) thanks to the eighty finals at the ATP 500 in Rio de Janeiro, in field in Santiago like Darderi, Matteo Berrettini and Andrea Pellegrino who has passed the qualifications.
