RE2sources doubles turnover in 2025 and consolidates among the top three biomethane producers in Italy

ROMA (ITALPRESS) – RE2sources closes 2025 with results that confirm the solidity of the business model and the centrality of the group in the Italian panorama of the ecological transition: turnover doubled with respect to the previous exercise and positive EBITDA for all operating companies in the treatment of the organic fraction of urban waste (FORSU).

With these results, RE2sources stands firmly among the top three biomethane producers in Italy, strengthening an integrated model capable of transforming organic waste into high added value resources: biomethane, compost and biogenic CO2. Growth is not only dimensional, but structural: RE2sources consolidates an industrial platform based on operational efficiency, margin control and full enhancement of material flows. The group entered in 2026 with an ambitious and articulated development plan.

By May, in the BioNet anaerobic digestion plant in Udine, infrastructure that represents a strategic toll in the territorial network of RE2sources and in the Italian North-East, will start the recovery of the biogenic CO2, while in July the composting line will enter into production.

On the front of the applied innovation, the group started a recovery project of the phosphorus co-funded by the Lombardy Region, which places RE2sources as a virtuous example of public-private collaboration at the service of the circular economy. The agreement with the Region testifies the company’s ability to attract institutional resources and translate advanced technological skills into projects with concrete relapses on the territory.

The operating plan also includes 20 new recruitments over the year, confirming growth that generates value in employment terms. The solidity of the fundamentals and the clarity of the industrial model have made RE2sources an increasingly important interlocutor for international institutional investors. The group has recorded an increasing interest on the part of foreign funds, attracted by the proprietary technological capacity, the predictability of flows linked to the management of the FORSU and the regulatory context favorable to biomethane in Italy and Europe.

In parallel, the group is evaluating selective M&A operations with a clear logic: the verticalization of the supply chain. The goal is not the end dimensional growth itself, but the acquisition of assets and skills that strengthen control over the entire value chain – from the collection and treatment of the organic to the enhancement of by-products.

“The priority is not to grow at all costs, but to grow with operational discipline and margin control. Each new operation must strengthen the industrial coherence of the group and generate sustainable value over time,” explains the leadership of the company.

At the centre of the RE2sources model, there is a technological platform capable of maximizing the yield of each organic waste flow. The ability to extract value from biogenic CO2 – traditionally considered a negligible by-product – and to develop solutions for the recovery of nutrients such as phosphorus, places the avant-garde group in a rapidly evolving sector, where technical expertise makes the difference.
